While taking a break for lunch, I left my laptop computer unattended for a few minutes. Upon my return I found my youngest son sitting on top my desk, working.
He renamed almost every icon on my Windows desktop to “mmm“. He opened about 20 new windows including documents, spreadsheats, browsers, etc. To top if all off, he snapped three keys completely off my ThinkPad’s keyboard. (Enter, shift, & page down).
I spent the next 20 minutes carefully reattaching the plastic key caps to their tiny connectors and renaming icons and documents back to their rightful names.
I figured [Ctrl] [Alt] [Del] Lock Computer was only necessary in an open office environment at work.

Last night, while giving my two young boys (24 months & 4-year old) a bath we got to talking about Jesus. It started simply enough. Carter made himself a beard made of bath bubbles and proclaimed that he looked like Santa Claus. Then, he decided he looked more like Jesus. “Hey Dad, what does Jesus look like? Does he have a beard like me?”
Meanwhile, Derek, not quite two yet, latches on to the word he hears and begins to babble to me about Chee Sushs. I’m proud of his capacity to learn new words lately and begin to talk to him about Jesus. Nothing too deep, just that Chee Sushs loves you. That sort of thing. We go on babbling back and forth for a few moments about the whole thing. I love the way he says the lord’s name — Chee Sushs. It’s too cute.
Then, Carter, full of four year old wisdom let me know that we aren’t talking religion as I had first thought. Nope. “Hey Dad, Derek isn’t saying JESUS. He’s saying Cheez-Its to you. He wants Cheez-Its.”
No one knows for sure what he’s saying most of the time. The fact is, he does love Cheez-Its. But I still think we exchanged some theology there in the tub.
